Fun Park Rentals will be hosting the first local ‘Playday’ event later this month to celebrate children’s play.
A press release from the company says Playday, which was founded by Play England and is traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August in the UK, highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.
“Parents don’t always understand the importance of play,” Fun Park Rentals Manager Athalyah Yisrael is quoted as saying in the release. “Frankly, I think play liberates children. It puts them in charge. I don’t think that there is any area of life about which play couldn’t teach your child something,” she adds, while noting that if parents truly understood what active play does for their children, both physically and mentally, they would expose their children to far more recreation.
The release said the national event is slated for August 31st, and the company is catering for the attendance of 500 children.
It said the day is set aside to expose children to various forms of play, while raising the awareness of the importance of Play in children’s cognitive, social and intellectual development. The company promises fun rides, an obstacle course, trampolines, bouncy castle, hula hoops, skipping ropes and outdoor games, among others.
Meanwhile, Fun Park Rentals is looking for sponsors that are passionate about raising the profile of play in Guyana and invites those interested to register either become a sponsor or provide a service at the Playday event.
It has also appealed to community leaders and residents desirous of mobilising their community to rehabilitate their community playgrounds for children to play.
