Guyana’s ‘fittest man’, Dillon Mahadeo has proven to be amongst the best in the Caribbean.
Mahadeo who won the 2016 E-Networks Fitness Challenge at the National Park in March, placed third overall at the inaugural CrossFit 12-12-12 Throw Down which took place at the St. Anthony’s grounds in West Moorings, Trinidad on Saturday.
According to reports, in the men’s Rx division (open category), which had a total of 40 of the Caribbean’s fittest men, Mahadeo snared the bronze while his countrymen, Jamie McDonald placed 10th, Carlos Mendonca placed 15th, Ian Rogers placed 16th, Osmond Mack placed 19th and Christian McRae placed 23rd.
In the women’s scaled division (novice) Guyana’s Angelina DeAbreu placed first while Neesa Bhagwandin finished seventh.
“Our team did very well, especially considering that CrossFit is a relatively new sport in Guyana”, McDonald told Stabroek Sport yesterday.
All competitors did the same for first three events with different load requirements based on category. The top 10 RX men and women went on to do a fourth event and the top five went on to a fifth event. Scoring was determined by tallying up the total scores for the entire day’s events.
