A man, accused of stealing a gold band, was remanded to prison on Tuesday after a court heard that he had a similar charged pending against him.
Dwight North, 27, appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly on a charge that on August 8, at the Route 31 minibus park, Stabroek Market, he robbed Adrian Pestano of a gold band, valued $75,000, and at the time, before or after, made use of personal violence.
North, of 545 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, pleaded not guilty.
The court heard that the defendant currently has a charge of a similar nature pending and he is currently out on bail. As a result, bail was denied and North was remanded until September 5, when his next hearing is scheduled.
Meanwhile, Wayne Goriah, who was accused of the fraudulent conversion of a generator, was yesterday granted bail after denying the charge.
The 7,000-watt Honda generator, valued at $105,000, was said to have been entrusted to Goriah by Aubrey Williams.
The defendant entered a not guilty plea and bail was subsequently set at $75,000.
The case was adjourned until August 30.
