The National Library Linden branch may soon get a facelift as members of the Retrieve Community Development Council (CDC) donated 15 gallons of paint on Tuesday last.
According to Secretary of the CDC Ann Ramsey the aim is to make Retrieve a better-looking community but given they are a relative young council they are taking it one project at a time.
“In time to come we will be doing more for the library, and Retrieve at large. It’s just that recognising that the library really needs a facelift, we decided for it to be our number one priority,” Ramsey stated.
The library, which was established in the year 1955, had been painted a few years ago, but the paint has faded and has begun to flake off the building.
When work will commence on the building is unsure given the fact that they are now trying to acquire additional paint to do the interior also.
“Considering labour cost and all else I can’t definitely say when work will commence. It is in the hands of the Chief Librarian now, she would be the one to give the go ahead,” Craig asserted.
