Devon Blount, a miner who is alleged to have been found in illegal possession of a shotgun, was yesterday remanded to prison by a city court.
Blount, called ‘Banga,’ 27, appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly and he was read a charge that stated that on August 10, at North Fort Backdam, Konawaruk River, he had a 12-gauge double barrel shotgun in his possession, without being the holder of a firearm licence. He denied the allegation.
Police prosecutor Kevin London related that Blount was apprehended while police and members of Guyana Geology and Mines Commission were on patrol on the Konawaruk River and spotted him.
Blount will be remanded until his next hearing, which is fixed for September 8.
