A Northwest resident was on Friday remanded to prison by a city magistrate after it was alleged that he attempted to kill another man with a cutlass.
It is alleged that on August 10, at Toroparu Backdam, Henry Charles, 22, of Northwest, with intent to murder, wounded Romel Edwards. Charles, was not required to plead to the charge which was read to him by Magistrate Leron Daly.
Police Prosecutor Kevin London, objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence. According London, the virtual complainant is still hospitalized but he is conscious. According to reports, Charles and Edwards had an argument when the accused took a cutlass and chopped the virtual complainant on his neck.
Bail was later refused for Charles and he was remanded to prison by the magistrate. The matter was adjourned until September 8.
