The trial of Linden driver Ron Cole, who is charged with causing the death of traffic officer Nakosi ‘Kelvin’ La Fleur, who was struck down while on duty, continued yesterday with testimony from two more witnesses.
Corporal Ronald Payne, a Traffic Officer, and La Fleur’s mother, Claudette La Fleur testified before Magistrate Leron Daly, who is conducting the trial in a Georgetown court.
Cole, 40, of Lot 15 Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, is accused of driving vehicle GRR 3955 on April 11, in a manner dangerous to the public and causing the death of La Fleur.
Payne identified the post-mortem report that was completed for La Fleur. This report, at the request of prosecutor Shevon Jupiter, was tendered and marked as an exhibit.
The court then heard from LaFleur’s mother, Claudette, who stated that on April 15 she was at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary, where she identified her son’s body.
La Fleur was buried on April 22, following a funeral service at the Salem Congregational Church at Hadfield Street.
Magistrate Daly subsequently adjourned the matter to September 5.
