The Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) is set for the grand opening of the 12th annual Berbice Expo and Trade Fair tomorrow.
This year’s event is being held under the theme ‘Promoting Entrepreneurship for a Diversified Economy’ and according to President of the CCCC Mohamed Raffik, President David Granger has been invited to deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony. In addition, he said, for the first time, the event will have a woman as guest speaker in the person of Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Container Inc Patricia Bacchus.
Bacchus, a well-known Berbician, is also Chairperson of Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest).
Meanwhile, Tejpaul Adjodhea, CCCC’s assistant treasurer and expo co-coordinator, revealed that almost 100 booths have been booked for the expo already. “In the main pavilion we have 75 booths and all are booked and out on the lawns we have about 25 booked,” Adjodhea explained. He said that a number of new major companies have opted to be part of the expo this year. Residents of Orealla have also been provided with booths to display their arts and crafts.
Workers are in full swing getting the Albion Sports Complex ready for the calendar event.
The expo and trade fair will conclude on Monday. Friday’s opening ceremony is at 5.30 pm.
