Rohan Girdharry, 45, along with his two sons Radesh Girdharry, 25, and Satesh Girdharry, 19, of Lot 127 Angoy’s Avenue was yesterday charged jointly at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court with attempted murder and inflicting bodily grievous harm.
The three men were not required to plead to the charge and were remanded to prison until their next court date October 7.
However, as the men left the court, an argument erupted between relatives of the victims and relatives of the accused.
The three men who were injured during the chopping spree are Jason Wilson, 30, of Mi Mi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue; Aston Simon, 41, and Vallas Motie, 26 of Sheet Anchor Village. One of Simon’s hands was severed, whilst Motie’s ear was chopped off. But it was Wilson who received the brunt of the attack; he was stabbed multiple times to his back and chopped on his head and stomach.
Motie has since been released from the hospital, while the other two men remain admitted as patients. The chopping incident occurred around 17:30 hrs on Sunday. According to information gathered, the suspects’ homes were raided some time earlier last week, and they accused Wilson’s sister of being an informant for the police. The suspects had reportedly publicly threatened both Wilson and his sister’s lives.
Wilson then gathered friends to assist him to move out of the area and it was while they were doing this that they were attacked.
