Exciting lightweight prospect, Imran ‘Magic’ Khan makes his highly anticipated ring return on the ‘Bad Intentions’ card billed for August 27 at the Giftland Mall.
He will be plotting revenge after suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Quincy Gomes on the ‘Hostile Territory’ card in February at the same venue.
Khan, 23, stopped his opponent David Thomas in the second round of his debut bout at the Pattensen edifice last October, but ran into a speed bump on his road to another victory in the form of a super confident Gomes.
The orthodox prize fighter said he is ready to return and is excited about his immediate prospects.
“It’s been six months, but I am back now and looking forward to building my record while I do what I love in the ring,” Khan told this publication yesterday.
Khan, who racked up 102 wins in the amateur ranks will be looking to continue that success in the pro ranks in nine days.
The 2013 ALBA Games bronze medalist will be tested over six rounds against the wily Gomes and said that he was confident of turning the tide.
“I’m feeling great, I’m not worried about him, I’m training hard to win easy,” boasted the ‘Magic Man’.
Khan’s inauguration into the professional landscape was a breath of fresh air as the heavy handed youngster provided many highlights during his amateur career and his pro debut.
He has earned the reputation as a fan friendly fighter with his no nonsense, offensive style in the ring.
Boxing fans are looking forward to his return.
Meanwhile, the knockout night of boxing will be headlined by DeMarcus ’Chop Chop’ Corley (46-27-1, 26 KO’s) and Dexter ‘The Cobra’ Gonsalves for the WBC FECARBOX lightweight title.
Corley brings experience and will be an interesting opponent for Gonsalves despite being 42-years-old.
At the height of Corley’s career in the early part of the 2000’s, he picked up the WBO super lightweight title and would later pick up a quality victory over the hard punching Randall Bailey. Following his win against Bailey he took on Zab Judah and lost a competitive split decision back in 2003.
The undercard features a light heavyweight battle involving Kelsie George and Charwin Estwick (four rounds), an eight-round middleweight matchup involving Mark Austin and Jamaican, Richard Holmes and some fresh talent. Debutant, Anthony Narine will lace it up against Keeve Allicock.
