GPHC Patient found dead in ward

A patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital was yesterday discovered dead in the hospital’s male ward, in what appears to have been a suicide.

Vinod Balkarran, 40, was discovered hanging from his bedroom window early yesterday morning by nurses who were conducting their rounds.

According to a reliable source, Balkarran died sometime between late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Stabroek News was told that the now deceased man was experiencing family problems and was overheard telling someone on the phone on Thursday night, “If you don’t come you gon be sorry.”

Attempts to contact the family members of the deceased were unsuccessful.
