Siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani are through to the semi-finals of the boys’ and girls’ singles events at the Caribbean Badminton Championships currently underway in Aruba.
In quarter-final matches at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall on Friday,
The number one seed in the boys division Sunburst sponsored Narayan Ramdhani defeated Jehu Gaskin of Barbados 21-11, 21- 12.
However, Guyana’s Jonathan Mangra lost his quarter-final match against Shea Michael Martin of Barbados 16-21, 18-21.
Priyanna Ramdhani, the youngest player in the Under-19 draw at the age 14 defeated Cheyanna Burnett-Griffith of Barbados 21-5, 21-2 to reach the semi-finals.
In the Under-19 mixed doubles event, the Ramdhani siblings defeated Suriname’s Jascha Atmodikromo and Santusha Ramzan of Suriname 21-10, 21-10 to reach the semis.
The semi-finals and finals will take place today with Narayan Ramdhani opposing Cesar Adonis Brito Gonzalez of the Dominican Republic while
Priyanna Ramdhani will play Amanda Yearwood of Barbados.
In the boys’ doubles, Narayan Ramdhani and Mangra will play Jade Allman and Joshua Smith of Trinidad while in the mixed doubles semifinal, Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani will oppose Trinidad’s Renaldo Sinanan and Jade Renales.
