Two men are in police custody after they robbed two persons with a pair of shears and were subsequently arrested with the stolen items in their possession.
According to the police, around 12.30am yesterday, at the University of Guyana Access Road, Anthony Dharamraj, 20 and Anisa Issehani, 18, both of Cummings Lodge, were attacked by two men who rode up to them on a CG motorcycle.
One of the men was armed with a pair of shears and dealt several lashes to the couple, robbing them in the process. Dharamraj and Issehani were relieved of a cellular phone, valued at $60,000 and $20,000 in cash.
The matter was reported to the police and swift action by officers on patrol led to the arrest of the men with the stolen items and the weapon.
The couple were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were treated and sent away.
