Dear Editor,
When the East Coast Railway Embankment Road was finished, signs were erected showing the names of the various areas ‒ Plaisance, Better Hope Vryheid’s Lust, Montrose, Felicity, Success, etc ‒ as a guide to people and vehicles as to where they are going and where they have to stop off.
About a year after the signs were erected a truck came and took them away, After about 6 months they brought them back and re-erected them. I noted that the advertisement had changed on each board. About 6 months later they were again taken away, so I said that whoever took them was going to change the advertisements again. However, about 2 years have passed and the signs have not been replaced.
It is very inconvenient for people looking for places which they can’t find them. The GPL emergency crew called me 3 times to give them directions to Montrose Bridge, where a transformer is on a pole about 30 feet away from the bridge. The newly employed postman asks for certain areas, the GTT repairs crew asks for certain districts and the names of persons living at certain places. I told my friend who was visiting me to stop by the Montrose Bridge. The bus stopped at the Success Bridge instead.
I don’t know who carried away the signs and has not returned then. But it is very inconvenient for people looking for the names of places without the signs to help them. I would be grateful if those who carried away the signs to have them replaced for the benefit of all.
Yours faithfully,
J Kadaru
