Rose Hall Town Jammers defeated the Guyana Human Development Centre (GHDC) by a 49-31 margin when the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) sanctioned A. Alli and Sons Senior Championship continued on Sunday.
Staged at the Tain Basketball Court, Joel Glasgow was the top shot in the win with a game high 14 points. He was supported by Calvin Drakes who was the next best scorer with 12 points while Jonhan Parshotam assisted with nine points.
On the other side, David Gomes led the loser with 12 points with the next best scorer coming in the form of Davindra Khedna who scored 10 points. Chipping in with six points was Royston Sahadeo.
Due to the win, the Jammers received three points. The event which will be played on a round-robin basis, will feature six teams from under the association’s umbrella.
Upon the completion of the group stage, the top two teams from each zone will progress to the elimination round. The other competing teams are Ithaca Hardliners, New Amsterdam Warriors, Fyrish Black Sharks and Smithfield Rockers.
Group-A will comprise of Smithfield Rockers, Black Sharks and Ithaca Hardliners while group-B will consist of Rose Hall Town Jammers, GHDC and New Amsterdam Warriors.
Action in the event will resume on Sunday with Smythfield Rockers opposing Ithaca Hardliners at the Ithaca court from 16:00hrs. Trophies and Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy will also be up for grabs.
