PARIS, France, CMC– Jamaica’s newest Olympic sensation Elaine Thompson is set to headline a strong field in the Paris Diamond League scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Thompson, the new double Olympic sprint champion, will feature among 27 medallists from the recently concluded Rio Olympic Games.
The 24-year-old won gold in the 100 and 200 metres to become the first woman in 28 years to sweep both sprints at an Olympiad.
Her countryman Usain Bolt, who sealed a historic “triple triple” with gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in his final Games, will not take part in Friday’s Parish Diamond League.
Bolt, who missed the 2015 meeting in the French capital with a leg injury, has decided to take a break from competition.
Nine Rio gold medallists including Thompson will take part while French supporters will also have a chance to welcome back four of their own Olympic stars.
