Pacesetters and Ravens basketball clubs overcame Colts and the University of Guyana (UG) Trojans respectively in the Open division when the Turbo Hard-Court Championship continued Friday at the Plaisance Community Court.
Sherlon Legall top scored with 18 points for Pacesetters while Stephon Gillis chipped in with 13. For Colts, Shane Webster battled to a game-high 26 points while Dave Causeway supported with 12 points.
The opening period saw Colts recording 19 points to Pacesetters’ 11.
Pacesetters, however, scored 19 points in a frenetic second period to Colts’ 16 points to trail by five points (35-30) at halftime.
The second period proved to be the catalyst for the Pacesetters comeback as they outscored Colts 18-11 to take the lead at 48-46 entering the final quarter.
The comeback win was sealed as Pacesetters registered 17 points to Colts 12 points.
In the second game, Ravens schooled UG Trojans 68-53. Ravens led from start to finish, beginning with the first quarter which ended 18-10.
The Trojans reduced the deficit netting 13 points to their opponent’s 10 to trail 23-28 at halftime.
Ravens restored their dominance upon resumption, scoring 26 points to Trojans’ 19 to lead 54-42 at the end of the third quarter and outshot Trojans 14-11 to walk off with the win. Play is set to continue today at the same venue.
