Pizza Hut Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) maintained their unbeaten run in the Women’s Division, defeating Old Fort 5-1 on Friday in the Lucozade Indoor Hockey Championship at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Aliyah Gordon opened the scoring with a second minute conversion before sealing her double in the 17th minute to make it 2-0.
Gabriella Xavier got into the goal scoring act as she netted one minute onward. It then became 4-0 in the 24th minute as Tricia Woodroffe netted.
Xavier netted her second in the 35th to complete her team’s tally before Old Fort scored a consolation goal one minute later. Continuing in the Women’s Section, Hikers crushed GCC Spartans 6-1.
Charlyn Elliott, Tikeisha DeLeon, Maryann Murray, Latacia Chung, Marisha Rodriguez and Kenisha Wills scored in the fourth, 11th, 14th, 27th, 32nd and 40th minute each.
On target in the loss was Mickelly Rahaman in the eighth minute. Meanwhile, Bounty GCC downed GCC Pitbulls by an 8-1 scoreline in the Men’s Division.
Kevin Spencer recorded a hat-trick in the third, eighth and 38th minute while Michael Craig scored twice in the 29th and 35th minute and Daniel Hooper netted in the 36th and 38th minute.
Contributing to the lopsided score was Kareem McKenzie who netted in the 12th minute. Scoring in the loss was sibling Keon McKenzie in the 29th minute.
In the second match of the section, GCC Vintage downed Saints 3-2. Dwayne Scott netted a double in the 24th and 26th minute for Vintage while Eric Hing supported with a 16th minute strike.
For the losers, Hilmar and Hilton Chester scored in the 10th and 22nd minute respectively. Action in the event is slated to continue at the same venue on Tuesday with another round of matches.
