Final day of East Bank vs Georgetown match washed out

Heavy showers washed out the final day’s play at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road between Georgetown and East Bank as the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Jaguars Franchise League wrapped up its first round of matches yesterday.

In their first innings, East Bank were bowled out for 192 on Friday’s opening.

However, they managed to snatch first innings points after off-spinner Steven Jacobs took three wickets to help dismiss Georgetown for 183 with  Guyana Jaguars Academy wicket-keeper/batsman Dexter Solomon scoring an unbeaten 62, while Kwame Cross, ex-West Indies U19 batsman made 36 and all-rounder Chris Barnwell, 31. East Bank were 68-5 in their second innings, with Guyana U19 all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford on 12 and Jacobs on 02.

Rain during the morning and around midday saw the officials at Everest eventually having no choice but to call off the match shortly after lunch as parts of the ground were slowing disappearing under water.

As a result of the “no result” outcome, both Georgetown and East Bank received three points. They also received an additional three points each for bowling out each other within 110 overs.

Georgetown’s fast bowlers gave them the team an extra 0.3 points taking their grand total to 6.3 while East Bank bettered their opponents by 0.1, due to the 0.4 points their pacers got which gave them a total of 6.4 points.

The second round bowls off this coming Friday.
