The dismembered body of a farmer was discovered early yesterday morning along the Adventure Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway and it is still unclear how he met his demise.
He has been positively identified as Phillip Viveiros, 41, of Adventure Village, Linden Highway. After police were alerted to the discovery, Viveiros’ body was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead.
The police, in a press statement, said Viveiros’ dismembered body was found around 5.40am yesterday.
Stabroek News was told that Viveiros left his home, where he resides with his mother, Enid Viveiros, around 2am yesterday to visit his farm. Shortly before this, he was drinking.
A senior police official told Stabroek News that the man may have been a victim of a hit and run but the police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to verify their suspicions. Several persons were questioned and subsequently released after questioning by lawmen.
Viveiros’ body is currently at the Wismar Hospital awaiting a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow.
