Western Tigers, Winners Connection and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) sealed their berths to the semi-final round following quarterfinal wins in the Mayor’s Cup Football championships Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
Western Tigers romped into the final four stage with a 7-2 win over Linden’s Eagles. The contest was over before it began.
Dwayne McLennon led the assault with a hat-trick in the second, 23rd and 47th minute, while Dellon Kelly, Randolph Wagner, Andre Webber and Philip Rowley, scored in the 57th, 75th, 79th and 81st minute respectively.
On target in the loss with a double was Jammick Simon in the 59th and 89th minute.
Meanwhile, the lawmen riddled Santos 3-0.
Quincy Holder netted a brace on either side of halftime in the 35th and 68th minute while Dwayne Charles found the back of the net in the 53rd minute.
In the third and final affair of the night, Linden heavyweights Winners Connection needled Riddim Squad 1-0. Versatile defender Derrol Danity separated the teams with a 67th minute conversion.
Western Tigers will now lock horns with GPF while Winners Connection will match skills with Ann’s Grove who had already sealed their berth to the semi-final round.
Winner of the event will receive $700,000 and the championship trophy compliments of Aruwai resort while the runners-up will pocket the package of $300,000 and Ansa McAl trophy.
On the other hand, the third placed finisher will receive $200,000 and the corresponding John Fernandes titled trophy while the fourth placed unit will receive the package of $100,000 and the Ministry of State accolade.
Similarly, the victorious side will receive hampers donated by Ricks and Sari. On the individual side, the event’s top scorer will walk away with a three piece suite compliments of AH&L Kissoon Furniture Store.
