A Mahaica Chinese restaurateur was robbed on Monday night of a quantity of cash by gun-toting bandits as she was closing.
Information reaching Stabroek News revealed that the bandits after robbing the woman escaped in a waiting car. The woman, Yan Mani, 40, of Mahaica Market Road told police that hours before closing she saw two persons sitting on a market stall but did not consider it a security threat.
Acting Police Commander of โCโ Division Paul Williams told Stabroek News they are still to make an arrest. He added that investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage.
Williams said that around 9.30 pm Mani was closing the doors of her restaurant when the men armed with guns pounced on her and demanded she hand over her valuables. The restaurant owner handed over the day sales and an iPhone.
