The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder of La Jalousie businessman Ganesh Ramlall, which was scheduled for Tuesday at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court, has been put off to September 9.
Three men: Lennox Roberts of 2279 Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo; Fazeel Bacchus, 21, a taxi driver of 7 Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara and Kurt Erskine, 35, a welder/seaman of 285 ‘C’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara have been charged with the offence.
The PI was set for continuation before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool, but attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes who has been assigned as a special prosecutor in the matter was not present at court.
Ramlall, owner of the Regent Multiplex Mall, located at the corner of Regent and Wellington streets, had just returned home around 12.20 am and was coming from a washroom near to his house when he was confronted by four men, who shot him at least seven times, including once to his head. They took away his licensed firearm, jewellery and wallet and then escaped.
