Dear Editor,
Allow me to congratulate Guyana’s Pre Cadet Table Tennis team on its good showing at the recent Caribbean Championship. I would also like to congratulate young Kaysan Ninvalle on bringing home the lone gold medal, and Gizmos and Gadgets for honouring this fine young athlete. My hope is that other entities would see it fit to honour our sportsmen and women when they do our country proud. We are lacking too much in this department. It would be remiss of me if I don’t take my hat off to Stabroek News and their sports department for highlighting the plight of the team before it left for Jamaica. It was through their coverage that Guyana learnt that the youngsters would not have make it to the championships because of a lack of funding from both government and the private sector. Please keep up the good work as it can only remind us all about the power of the media.
