Alocasia sanderiana commonly called Sacred Heart Lily or Kris Plant originated from the Philippines and belongs to the Araceae family.
There are many varieties of Alocasias, however, although the most amazing one is the Sacred Heart Lily or the Kris Plant.Sacred Heart Lily is known for its unique and showy display of beautiful leaves which are graceful, sagittate (shaped like an arrow-head), heart-shaped, metallic leaves. The margins are deeply lobed with white veins on almost black leaves and are reverse purple on the underside. Sacred Heart Lily is grown from a rhizome.
Plant Sacred Heart Lily in regular potting soil, and fertilize with Miracle Gro All Purpose Plant Food every 2 weeks. Remember this plant likes to be moist and the leaves like to be misted daily.
There is a little rest period where the rhizome may go to sleep, however, the plant will come up back after the rest period. After approximately one year, you may need to repot the plant to a larger container if it has spread rapidly.
Sacred Heart Lily is a tropical perennial plant and likes to be grown as a potted plant in a semi-shaded area.
Sacred Heart Lily is a also associated with the legion of Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Until next week, Happy Gardening!
