Unbeaten sides Pepsi Hikers and Pizza Hut Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) were crowned Lucozade indoor hockey men and women champions when the event concluded Saturday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Pepsi Hikers completed a perfect campaign in the event, crushing GCC Vintage 7-1 in the final. Shane Samuels led the way with a hat-trick in the 24th, 30th and 40th minute.
He was assisted by Rayon Branford, Aroydy Branford, Andrew Stewart and Jamarj Assanah who scored in the second, 31st, 32nd and 35th minute respectively.
On target in the loss was Patrick Edghill in the 19th minute. Meanwhile, Pizza Hut GCC edged GCC Spartans 2-0 to end the event undefeated. Tiffany Solomon and Kerensa Fernandes were on target in the hard-fought victory.
On the individual side of the presentation, Aroydy Branford copped the highest goalscorer award in the men’s section while Gabriela Xavier of Pizza Hut GCC won the award in the women’s division.
Robert France of Hikers and Marisha Rodrigues were adjudged the most valuable male and female players respectively while Old Fort’s Sarafina Phillips and GCC’S Rahim Oliver received the best goalkeeper accolades for the women and men’s division correspondingly.
