The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) on Friday said that its arrears collection up to July this year was $921m and not the $1.8b it had erroneously stated at a press conference on August 10, 2016.
“… after checks and verification, it was found that the arrears collection figure up to July 2016 is $921,814,791.00
“GWI apologizes for the incorrect figure reported but is committed to ensuring continued transparency, even as it continues to go after defaulters”.
The utility said that as it continues its disconnection campaign countrywide to collect all outstanding arrears, customers with queries can contact GWI’s Customer Services Call Centre on 227-8701/03/04; e-mail GWI Public Relations via pro@gwi.gy or post queries via social media: www.facebook.com/guyanawaterinc.
