Wales FC secured their first win of the Stag Beer sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Senior League, defeating Golden Warriors via walkover on Sunday at the Den Amstel ground.
Wales secured the vital three points without breaking a sweat as their opponent failed to take the playing area to start the matchup. Also in the second fixture, Uitvlugt Warriors were held to a scoreless draw with Stewartville.
Meanwhile, on Saturday at the same venue, Young Achievers downed Vege Boyz 5-0. Lexroy Manfield scored a hat-trick in the seventh, 59th and 60th minute while Lloyd Prince and Emmanuel Thomas netted in the fifth and 66th minute each.
Also, Jetty Gunners and Eagles battled to a 1-1 result. Shawn Williams scored for Jetty Gunners in the 16th minute while Orlanzo Henry equalised in the 65th minute for Eagles.
The event will continue at the same venue on Saturday and Sunday. At 14:00hrs on Saturday, Eagles will oppose Vege Boys while Golden Warriors will tackle Pouderoyen.
On Sunday, Jetty Gunners will tackle Wales from 14:00hrs whilst Uitvlugt will lock horns with Beavers from 16:00hrs.
