Chlorophytum comosum vittatum commonly called Spider plant originated from Africa and the sub-tropics. It has adapted well in Guyana and the Caribbean.
The Spider plant has narrow leaves with cream and green stripes. Its long and beautiful arching stems produce small tiny white flowers and rosettes of small Spider plants. These rosettes can root easily in water or a sandy soil.
Spider plants are popular indoor house plants and are best grown as potted plants. They are excellent air purifiers and have been tested by NASA. They are a powerhouse when it comes to cleaning indoor air.
Plant Spider plants in a semi-shaded area. They are also excellent hanging basket plants. Fertilize with Miracle Gro All Purpose Plant Food once every two weeks.
Now that you know the benefits of having Spider plants, how about having a few pots around the office or home? You will be happy in the end.
Until next week, Happy Gardening!
