Another of the three escapees from the Sophia Juvenile Holding Centre was recaptured on Saturday night.
Acting Crime Chief Hugh Jessemy said yesterday that police acting on information were able to recapture one of the juveniles at Tain Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice at 19:15h on Saturday. Another had been recaptured at Rose Hall earlier on Saturday.
Police are still searching for the third juvenile who fled from the Sophia Holding Centre in the city on Saturday morning.
The trio escaped after they dug a hole in the concrete wall of the lower flat and scaled the fence.
Stabroek News also learnt that a man and his wife are being questioned after one of the teens was found at their Corentyne home.
Hours after the incident, the police said that one of the escapees, who hails from Adventure, Essequibo Coast and was on remand for armed robbery, was recaptured at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.
This newspaper was also told that the three were taken to the centre on Friday after they were remanded for robbery and break and enter charges.
A source told this newspaper that the juveniles used makeshift tools to dig the hole.
Ranks on duty at the time of the incident were reportedly sleeping.
