Caribbean 11 years and under boys table tennis singles champion Kaysan Ninvalle has been selected by the International Table Tennis Federation to participate in a World Hopes selection training camp to be held in Lima, Peru from October 18-23.
According to a press release from the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), the camp will be used to select two representatives per gender from Latin America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean to participate in the ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge for the year 2017.
“The camp will have some of the world best junior coaches and the programme will offer Kayson once selected the opportunity to represent the region and benefit from fully sponsored training competition with the world elite under 11 players in preparation for the World Hopes week/challenge,” stated the release.
Ninvalle was selected by the ITTF after he won the 2016 Caribbean boys 11 years and under Pre-cadet singles title. “The World Hopes Programme is one of the new projects of the ITTF Education and Training Programme for young talented players in the U11 age group, players who have already showcased their abilities in international arenas and who are aspiring candidates in the route toward excellence,” stated the release from the GTTA. “The programme offers a comprehensive and continuous pathway for players’ development from the age of 11 until they become Olympic candidates, while still U21. Ninvalle is the second Guyanese player to be selected by the ITTF for such an engagement after National Women’s Champion Chelsea Edghill who was selected as an ITTF “With the in Mind Player.”
Ninvalle, the release stated, has begun intensive training in preparation for his participation.
