Utility pole overloaded, resulting in a small explosion

One of the transformers mounted on a Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) utility pole overloaded, resulting in a small explosion that caused all three utility poles to fall yesterday morning near the junction of Robb and Camp streets yesterday morning. Power to the area was cut as a result, while traffic along Robb Street was disrupted as a GPL emergency crew worked to replace the poles and restore the power supply.  Fortunately, no one was walking on the pavement when the poles fell.
