BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC- Shane Dowrich and Rajendra Chandrika scored half centuries and Rahkeem Cornwall grabbed five wickets to steal the spotlight on the first day of the two day practice match between West Indies Blue and West Indies Maroon here yesterday.
Dowrich retired out with a top score of 77 while Chandrika, who opened the innings, scored 57, the top scorers in West Indies Blue 225 all out at Windward Sports Club.
Cornwall finished with five for 79 including two maiden overs to be the thorn in Blues’ innings.
His scalps included opener Leon Johnson for 13, Roston Chase for six in the top order and the middle order wickets of Vishual Singh for 20, Jahmar Hamilton eight and Roland Cato five.
But the highlight of the innings so far has been the batting of Chandrika and Dowrick who compiled 72 runs for the fifth wicket.
Dowrick cracked 11 fours and cleared the boundary once to reach 77 from 97 balls while Chandrika accumulated his 57 from 117 balls hitting four fours in the process.
The other double digit score came from Jerome Jones who was run out for 16 while the other wicket takers for West Indies Maroon were Obed McCoy, Devendra Bishoo and Jessie Bootan who picked up a wicket each.
The warm-up match between West Indies Blue and West Indies Maroon continues today involving mainly members of the Test squad preparing for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, and West Indies A-Team preparing for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
