BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC- An unbeaten century from Kyle Hope laid the ground work for a convincing 71 run victory for West Indies Blue over West Indies Maroon in the a 50 overs a side practice match here on Monday.
Hope, the Barbados right hand batsmen, powered to 137 not out to steer Blue to 257 for seven, before bowling out Maroon for 186 in 44.4 overs at the Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill, Barbados.
Kavem Hodge supported with a score of 52 at the top of the order. A four wicket haul from Jon-Russ Jagessor destroyed Maroon’s innings and wiped out any chance of a second win following their win in the first practice match on Saturday.
Hope coasted to 137 not out from 143 balls, hitting 10 fours and five sixes, while also sharing a 93 run opening stand with Hodge.
The 27 year old Hope who turns 28 next month made, his presence felt throughout the innings, including a seven wicket partnership with Benjamin that produced 67 runs.
Jervin Benjamin chipped in with 23 while Ashley Nurse with three for 46 was the main wicket taker for Maroon.
Jagessor, Myers and Shannon Gabriel grabbed eight wickets among them as Blues plunged to 95 for five and never recovered.
Nurse top scored with 41, Roland Cato 26 while Jason Mohammed and Assad Fudadin scored 25 and 23 respectively.
Jagessor finished with four for 52, while Gabriel and Myers picked up two wickets each.
The match involved mainly members of the West Indies One-day International squad preparing for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, and West Indies A-Team preparing for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
