The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground home of a number of famous former West Indies cricketers is expected to be a hive of activity tomorrow night when the popular softball team Floodlights take on G-Square Cavaliers of Wakenaam in a feature hardball T20 cricket match.
The match was scheduled to be played last Friday night but was subsequently postponed.
One of the highpoints of tomorrow night’s encounter is expected to be the performances of former West Indies middle order batsman Travis Dowlin and former West Indies T20 player Christopher Barnwell who will make their debuts for Floodlights following in the footsteps of another West Indies player in Shivnarine Chanderpaul who has also played for Floodlights.
The match will commence at 6pm and both Barnwell, a medium pacer and Dowlin, a competent off spinner will be expected to perform dual roles for Floodlights.
Heera Sukhram and Ricky Deonarain are the captains of G-Square Cavaliers and Floodlights respectively.
Floodlights squad will come from Ricky Deonarain – captain, Reyaz Hussein, Khalid Baksh, Anil Beharry, Dharam Persaud, Rakesh Arjune, Patrick Khan, Travis Dowlin, Surendra Nauth, Lloyd Rooplall, Christopher Barnwell, Lalta Gainda, Yusuf Unos and `wonder kid’ Romeo Deonarain.
The “G-Square Cavaliers” team will come from Heera Sukhram – captain, Chandrika Ragnauth, Jagarnauth Manbode, wicketkeeper, Kamal Khan, Satnarine Sahadeo, Bheesham Bhagpattie, Lokram Narine, Ghansham Samwaru, Mahendra Dindial, Tulsie Sahadeo, Bhumeshwar Ramkissoon, Tamesh Persaud, and Tameshwar Persaud.
