Food for the Poor, in collaboration with the Regional Administration, has distributed a quantity of supplies to several Region 9 villages.
According to a press release from Regional Executive Officer, Region 9, Carl Parker, items including sewing machines, farming tools and assorted food supplies were distributed to the villages of Aishalton, Awarewaunu, Maruranau, Karudarnau and Achiwib in the South Rupununi Savannahs.
Parker stated that the items will give the residents a sense of independence and pride in providing for themselves, the release said.
Meanwhile, the release added that the Regional Democratic Council is building a shade house in each of the five Sub-Districts of the Rupununi and establishing two pastures, one each in North Rupununi and South Central Rupununi.
