The family of a missing woman, who has not been seen for just over three weeks, is appealing for help to find her.
Shawnette Savory, a resident of 222 Last Street, Prospect, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly last seen leaving her apartment on August 29, 2016 and has not been heard from since.
Her sister, Vanessa Ramcharran, told Stabroek News on Tuesday that she last spoke to Savory just hours before she disappeared. However, it wasn’t until she received a call from the woman’s landlord several days later that she realised her sister was missing.
“I spoke to her (Savory) the same day and she told me she was going to buy credit for her GPL meter; she went back home to put in the credit and the landlady said she saw her going out back. About three to four days later, the landlady call and ask if my sister was by me because she didn’t see her back since then,” Ramcharran related.
As a result, Ramcharran said she made numerous calls to her sister’s cell phone, all of which went unanswered.
When asked if she was aware of her sister’s involvement with anyone, the woman explained that Savory only had one friend in the area.
Ramcharran further noted that when she checked in with the friend, he too said he last spoke to Savory on the day she reportedly disappeared.
Concerns over the missing woman grew after a search of the woman’s apartment revealed that none of her belongings were missing.
“We went to the house and everything is there; there were no clothes missing, her phone charger was left right there. This is the first time we have had to deal with something like this,” the sister said.
She further stated that while a missing person’s report was lodged at the Providence Police Station, the ranks there have not been able to locate the woman.
Savory was said to have been employed at a toilet paper manufacturing plant in the Diamond area. She is also the mother of an 18 year old daughter who resides with her father in the United States.
“If she sees this article, we just want her to know that we are worried about her. If she can get to a phone and call us, we will come and pick her up. We just want her to come back home,” Ramcharran pleaded.
The family is pleading with anyone that knows the whereabouts of Shawnette Savory to contact the nearest police station or Vanessa Ramcharran on 689-0107 or 233-3699.
