On a night highlighted by drawn encounters, Sales Department crafted a victory when the Banks DIH Limited Inter-Department 5-aside Football Championship continued on Wednesday.
Staged at the Thirst Park ground, Sales secured the lone win of the night via a 1-0 scoreline over Special Events in third affair. In other results, Team Trisco battled to an exciting 1-1 stalemate with the Berbice branch in final match of the night.
Jamaul Joseph gave the team from the Ancient county the early lead in the 12th minute as he slotted home from the right side of the box into the centre of the net, after racing into the area unchallenged to latch onto a flat left side cross.
However, Nicquan Nestor earned a share of the spoils for his unit as he found the back of the net two minutes onward during a counterattack. Racing across the centre of the field into the right side of the box, the lanky attacker unleashed a powerful right foot shot into the lower left hand corner, giving the custodian no chance as he was rooted to the spot.
Meanwhile, in the curtain raiser of the evening, Central Service and Sales battled to a 0-0 result, while in the second fixture, Berbice and Specials Events played to an identical scoreline.
In the fourth programmed contest, a winner was also unable to be found as Stores and Special Events played to a scoreless encounter.
The event will resume with another round of preliminary matches on Tuesday September 27th and Wednesday September 28th at the same venue.
