Beer Plant/Brewery defeated Distribution/Warehouse by 23 runs when the Banks DIH Limited GT Beer Inter-Department tapeball cricket tournament commenced Friday at the company’s sports club ground.
Asked to take first strike on a cool evening at Thirst Park, Beer Plant/Brewery stumbled their way to 86-6 from their allotted 12 overs.
Colin Jack top scored with 15 runs while Roydon Barnwell chipped in with a vital 13. A. Swamipersaud claimed three wickets in two overs for 15 runs bowling for Distribution/Warehouse while A. Singh grabbed 2-16.
In reply, Distribution Warehouse could only muster 63-7 in their allotted overs.
D. Ross was the top scorer with 13 runs while E. Hinds captured 3-14 from 2.1 overs. The event will resume tomorrow at the same venue with another preliminary matchup.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Department 5-a-side football tournament will continue at the same facility with another round of preliminary matches on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The winners of the respective events will receive trophies while the second and third place finishers will also be rewarded.
