The knife-wielding relative of a Freeburg Secondary School student was yesterday arrested after he chased down and wounded another student in the school’s compound following an altercation.
Stabroek News understands that after two students, a boy and a girl, clashed, a relative of girl showed up armed with a knife and determined to take matters into his own hands.
A scuffle ensued between the student and the relative, the latter of whom pulled out a knife. The student then tried to escape his attacker but found himself being chased around the compound by the knife-wielding relative.
Stabroek News was told that having realized what was taking place, residents in the area went to the rescue of the student, who escaped with a cut to his hand.
His attacker was cornered by residents who managed to physically restrain him until the police arrived at which time he was taken into custody.
Commander of ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken told this newspaper that the man will be brought before the court to face charges.
