President’s College, Kwakwani Secondary and Marian Academy secured wins in the U19, U14 and girls divisions respectively when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) coordinated National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued Sunday.
President’s College defeated Bishops’ High 37-25 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Jaleel Duke with 10 points and Leon Harte with eight points and four rebounds were the top contributors while Anton Fileen netted six points and pulled down seven rebounds.
For Bishops’ High, Timothy Thompson battled to a double-double of 11 points and as many rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kwakwani Secondary hammered St. Rose’s High 52-7. Kadeem Dover led the rout with a double-double of 12 points and 10 steals while Javon Brutus netted 11 points and David Conway 10 points and six steals.
For St Rose’s Jaheim Barton scored five points and grabbed five boards.
In another lopsided encounter, Marian Academy girls whipped Mackenzie High 24-2.
Jada Mohan had eight points, five rebounds and six steals, Georgianna Vyphuis assisted with eight points and six rebounds while Jahrier Young scored six points.
In the second U14 fixture, Mackenzie High crushed Bishops High 41-25. Kobe Tappin and Shamar Savoury netted 10 points each for the winners while Tyrone Singh and Duwon Younge scored eight and seven points respectively for Bishops’ High. In the lone U16 fixture, St. Rose’s High brushed aside Bishops High 34-18.
Anthony Yansen scored 14 points and five rebounds. He was supported by Kwasi Roberts who scored nine points and four rebounds. For Bishops High, Roydon Glasgow scored six points and four rebounds.
The action will resume on Friday at the same venue. Sponsors of the event include Digicel Guyana, Edward B. Beharry and Company Limited and Banks DIH Limited.
