Rose Hall Town Jammers edged Smythfield Rockers 51-48 when the A. Ally & Sons Basketball tournament continued Sunday at the Fyrish Basketball Court in Berbice.
Michael King top scored for Jammers with 12 points while Mickel Lewis and Kebon Emmanuel lent support with 10 and eight points respectively.
For Rockers, Neil Wills registered a game-high 17 points while the next best scorer with 13 points was Michael Bowen.
The opening period set the tone for the hard-fought affair as Jammers claimed a 12-11 lead heading into the second quarter.
Jammers extended their advantage to three points (25-22) entering halftime by outshooting Rockers 13-11.
Rockers failed to make inroads into the deficit as both teams scored 12 points to head into the final quarter behind at 37-34 and Jammers sealed the result in the final period as both teams scored 14 points.
The competition will resume on Sunday with NA Warriors opposing Rose Hall Town Jammers at the Rose Hall Town Basketball court from 16:00hrs.
Trophies and Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy will also be up for grabs.
