A 20-year-old man was on Monday remanded to prison after a city court heard that two laptops, which he is accused of stealing, were both recovered at his home.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read a charge of robbery to Ramono Hamblin, who denied that on September 23, at Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Rashana Richmond and stole a Compaq laptop valued at $136,000 and an Acer laptop valued at $148,000.
Hamblin, when granted the opportunity, pleaded not guilty to stealing the items.
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers objected to bail based on the nature of the offence and the fact that Hamblin has been charged with a similar offence before. It was further stated that the articles mentioned in the charge were recovered at his home.
Hamblin was also said to have admitted to committing the offence and implicating another individual.
Chief Magistrate McLennan subsequently remanded the man and adjourned the matter to October 4, when it is to be called at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
