The second accused in the murder of Gafoor’s manager Terry Lackhan was yesterday remanded to prison after he was jointly charged with the first accused David Outar.
In the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, Patrick Ross, 22, of Lot 107 First Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara and David Outar, 24, of 369 Foulis, East Coast Demerara, were not required to plead when they were together charged with the murder of Terry Lackhan, which occurred on July 21, at Herstelling.
Though Outar, a co-worker of Lackhan had been charged separately with the murder in July, the new joint charge was read to him in the presence of his attorney Gwendolyn Bristol.
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that there are still some outstanding documents which need to be added in the police’s file for it to be completed.
The Chief Magistrate remanded both of the men to prison. The matter was adjourned until October 25 for report.
Lackhan, 55, was found dead by a neighbour in his Herstelling home last Thursday with a rope around his neck.
The neighbour, who had heard a commotion in Lackhan’s upper flat, became suspicious when she saw an individual running out of the yard.
She ventured upstairs to check on Lackhan, since calls made to him went unanswered, and found his body in a room with a rope around his neck. The police were then summoned.
