A police inspector of the Eteringbang Police Station, ‘F’ Division and of Lot 50 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to answer to the charge of indecent assault and sexual activity with a young child.
Marc Anthon, 46, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Mursaline Bacchus was placed on $150,000 bail by Magistrate Alex Moore. Magistrate Moore also ordered that Anthon’s passport be lodged with the Clerk of Court.
The charge read that sometime between April 30, 2010 and January 1, 2013 in Liverpool Village, Corentyne, Anthon allegedly indecently assaulted a female child. Prosecuting was Police Corporal Winston Poliah, who said that Anthon allegedly inserted his finger into the vagina of the child.
It was also alleged that sometime between September 1, 2012 and September 30, 2012, the policeman engaged in sexual penetration with a child.
The case of engaging in sexual activity with a minor was put down for statements on October 20 at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court while the indecent assault case was transferred to the Whim Magistrate’s Court for hearing on October 24.
