One of the three persons who were injured during a drive-by shooting at Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Friday evening remains in a critical condition at a city hospital while the other two are said to be out of danger.
When contacted for a comment, Commander of ‘C’ Division, Marlon Chapman said that while the investigations into the matter continue, no one was arrested up to yesterday afternoon.
Tishana Persaud, Pooran Etwaroo and Ron Robinson were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hopsital (GPH) on Friday evening after they were shot while at the Bless Up car wash located at Hope West, Enmore, ECD.
They all underwent emergency surgery. However, while Etwaroo and Robinson are listed as stable, Persaud is said to be in a critical condition in the GPH Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
While details surrounding the incident which occurred between 7.30 pm and 8 pm remain sketchy, Stabroek News was told that the three victims were at the wash bay when a car pulled up and the occupant/s opened fire indiscriminately.
A relative of one of the victims who did not wish to be named had previously related that his friend whom he identified as “Rastaman” and who is believed to be Robinson, arrived with women friends for his car to be washed.
He explained that while the vehicle was being washed, Etwaroo was carrying chairs to the opposite side of the road for the women to sit. It was at this point, he said, that the vehicle, described as a silver Toyota Allion, rolled up and five to six shots were fired. The relative said as soon as the shooting ended, Robinson and his friends jumped into his car and they drove to the police station.
Etwaroo, on the other hand, ran home, where he collapsed while the others were transported to the hospital by the police.
