The Formula 1600 series ended on a high note for Guyana’s Calvin Ming who placed second in the final race of the season and afterwards the young Ming said that the year 2016 was a learning experience for him.
The final round (race number 21) was held at the Virginia International Raceway, over the 3.27 miles course with 17 turns and the race was won by Neil Verhagen in a photo finish with Ming, a release from the Guyanese stated.
Verhagen emerged as the series champion while Peter Portante, who placed third behind Ming was the runner-up to Verhagen.
“The year was a tremendous learning experience for me, providing the opportunity to meet and compete against several talented young drivers from the USA and Mexico, while driving on some very World famous racing circuits,” said Ming when asked about the just concluded season.
“The coaches, technicians, engineers and managers of Team Pelfrey, provided invaluable advice, guidance and support to myself and my great teammates throughout the year, for which l am most grateful,” he declared.
