No arrest has been made as yet in the attack on a Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, family that was robbed last Thursday.
According to Crime Chief (ag) Hugh Jessemy, investigators are still reviewing the surveillance footage that was obtained.
During the wee hours of last Thursday morning, five bandits kicked down the front door to the home of the Harrinauth family, at Lot 463 Fourth Cross Street, Herstelling, and robbed them of over $2 million in cash and jewellery.
Surveillance footage, seen by this newspaper after being posted on social media, showed that two cars pulled up at the house at 2.16am. Three men exited the first car, while two others existed from the second car.
While kicking down the door, the men claimed that they were the police. However, members of the family did not open the door because they suspected that the men were thieves.
Vidyawattie Harrinauth, who lives at the residence with her parents, told Stabroek News that the attack lasted approximately 20 minutes.
She said the men brutalised her and her father as they made their demands for valuables.
