A second person was placed under arrest in connection with the recent murder of the Gangaram cattle farmer and this was confirmed by Commander of ‘B’ Division, Kevin Adonis.
As the police continue their investigation, acting on information, they arrested a livestock farmer who resides directly after Gangaram, in the area known as ‘Speculation’. The commander confirmed that the second person was also taken to Georgetown where the other suspect currently is.
Last Tuesday, 38-year-old, Ramnarine Itwaru of Lot 84 Gangaram Settlement, East Canje was discovered with four bullet wounds on ring road, a Guysuco dam in Gangaram Settlement, East Canje Berbice. The cattle farmer had reportedly left home around 1 pm to cut grass for his animals on the dam. Residents had told Stabroek News that gun shots were heard in the village sometime between 2 pm and 3 pm. Stabroek News reported that Itwaru’s wfe, Kunti Hemraj had revealed that the first suspect in custody had threatened her husband to “finish him off” over a land dispute.
Relatives of the deceased and residents of Gangaram Village are calling for justice.
