Stores and Trisco scored contrasting victories when the Banks DIH Limited (Ltd) Inter-Department five-a-side football tournament continued Monday at the Thirst Park ground with preliminary matches.
Stores brushed aside Water Plant 2-0 with veteran midfielder Philip Rowley recording a brace either side of halftime.
The combative Rowley opened the scoring in the third minute, a brilliant individual effort, which emanated from his own half as he dribbled several challengers while racing down the centre of the field, before unleashing a powerful right foot shot past the custodian from outside the area.
Rowley sealed his double in the 18th minute, rifling another thunderbolt onto the crossbar and into the net after collecting a left side pass.
The night went from bad to worse for Water Plant as they went down to Trisco 0-1. Keith Fletcher scored the lone goal Trisco in the fifth minute.
Racing onto a right side pass from Nicquan Nestor, the diminutive Fletcher lashed a right foot shot from the centre of the area into the back of the net.
The event continues today at the same location with another doubleheader.
In the opening fixture at 17:30hrs, Berbice will oppose Water Plant while Beer Plant will tackle Berbice at 18:30hrs.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Department tape ball competition will also resume today at the same venue.
